How to plan your project
How to plan your project
Start with a project summary
The project plan should start with a page containing the project's executive summary, outlining
the project objectives and what will be accomplished briefly, as well as the number of
employees, the amount of money allocated to each department, the expected results, and the
basic completion criteria and constraints through which the assessment can be included.
Setting specific goals
The objectives and outputs of the project must be determined and made clear to all before
starting to develop the project, for example the goal of increasing profits is very broad, so it is
possible to determine the source of the increase in revenues, and if the goal is to reduce
costs, there must be a reason for that, and the reasons for these high costs, if any, must be
determined, as setting goals with dates to ensure the success of the goals is an important
detail in order to succeed in achieving the objectives of the project.
Determining the mechanism of communication
The mechanism of communication between the team members must be planned and
determined, the mechanism for delivering the results must be determined, whether it will be a
weekly process, monthly or otherwise, who is responsible for verifying whether the
achievements meet the requirements, and whether there will be regular meetings in the
presence of all.
Develop a risk management plan
A project is exposed to some large or small problems that may be unpredictable or difficult to
predict, so the project manager must determine the risks to which the project may be exposed
and the likelihood of it occurring, and how these risks will be dealt with to mitigate and
address their impact.
Budget
The amount of money that the project will need to be completed is determined, as the project
manager distributes the resources appropriately, and some project budgets may be linked to
hr plans, but for a vendor-based project, the manager must ensure that the goods arrive as
agreed in the signed contract and to ascertain their quality.
